Good news for Class 12 pass-outs in Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has launched an online portal to facilitate loans to financially weak students going in for higher studies.
“We firmly believe that no student should be denied an opportunity to study further just because his/her parents don’t have enough money,” says Kejriwal.
Under the scheme, bank loans taken by the students will be provided a guarantee through the Higher Education and Skill Development Credit Guarantee Fund that has been especially created by the Delhi Government for the purpose.
Further, any needy student, regardless of his/her social or religious status will be allowed to take this loan that too without having to furnish any collaterals or margin money. The loan re-payment terms have also been kept very liberal
“The idea is to encourage more and more students to avail of this opportunity. We want to assure all students that they don’t have to worry about getting financial resources now. The government is there to help them,” said the CM.
“With this portal, students can apply online for loans which the participating banks will be obliged to provide. I believe this will transform education, enabling thousands of eligible students to pursue their studies and attain their career goals,” says Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds education portfolio.
