e-box launched for reporting child abuse cases

Science & Technology

The government has finally come to rescue of child victims of sexual abuse. It has launched an online complaint box, called e-box. The e-box is hosted in the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights website, where a child victim can log in and report the incident. Those who do not have the Internet facility can call the childline at 9868235077 or a toll-free number 1098 and register the complaint.

How to lodge a complaint on e-box

Click on the “e-box” icon

Press on the pictorial option provided to show where the harassment happened viz playground, shop, road, school, tuition, family members, relative, internet, phone, etc.

Put in your phone number/e-mail id and submit the complaint.

To safeguard the complainant harm’s way, his/her identity will be kept a top secret, not disclosed to anyone.

Once a complaint is received, a specially trained counselor will be put on the case for investigation.

Child abuse is a chilling reality in India, but the victims rarely report the matter because of fear or helplessness.
