Akshay Bora in Special Olympics Winter Games
Akshay Bora, a student of Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan, Noida, is participating in the Special Olympics Winter Games 2017 being held at Graz, Austria from March 14-25.
As many as 3,000 athletes from 110 countries are participating in these games, considered as world’s largest sports and humanitarian event.
Akshay Bora is participating in the snowboarding event. MBCN’s sports coach Rohit Manchanda is also representing the country in the world winter games as a unified floorball coach.
The Indian delegation for the special event includes 140 athletes, coaches, youth leaders, families and officials. Of this, 90 athletes will be participating in seven out of nine sport disciplines featuring the World Games. These seven sports include Alpine Skiing, Snow Shoeing, Snow Boarding, Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Floor Hockey and Floor Ball including Unified Floor Ball.
Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan works under the aegis of The Ponty Chadha Foundation. Set up by late Gurdeep (Ponty) Singh Chadha, MBCN is a school for special children set up in 1999 with a mission to make these children self-dependent, both physically, socially and financially.
