To raise the awareness in efforts of peace building and provide contemplable time for students to understand the need in actions for global peace as an international order from the local level by citizens to materialise the universal value of coexistence, a seminar for youth titled Peace Bridge was organized at recently in New Delhi.
Co-hosted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), and the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) under the topic, Spreading A Culture of Peace through Cultural Exchange, the seminar witnessed participation by 50 students where stories of peace activists in both India and Korea, Gandhi and Yoo Kwan Sun were presented to raise the awareness in efforts of peace building. Peace walks, seminars, and support campaigns were introduced as practical approaches for youth empowerment in contribution to peace.
Rishi Kumar Banshiwa, co-founder and director of Reaching Sky Foundation, commemorated the event and stated, “We want to sensitize the youth of our country and make them aware about certain ways through which they can find internal peace and be emotional and socio-cultural peaceful so that they lead a better life. We expect to empower the youth with a lifelong skill such as with peace skills.”
Participants also signed their signatures in support of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), drafted by HWPL to address the need to establish a culture of peace and conflict resolution based on an international legal framework also designated by the United Nations resolutions and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to overcome challenges of violence that threatens global peace.
