TV actor-turned-filmstar Sushant Singh Rajput has decided to support the education of a few underprivileged children.
“We are selecting a group of schools, and we will take a merit test of the kids. If the kids pass the exam, we will take care of their education cost for a year. The process will be repeated every year,” he says.
“We hope it will give kids a new excitement and encouragement to study and make them more competitive,” he adds.
“I believe education is not about becoming a doctor or engineer, but to make a child a well-rounded individual. You may choose any profession be it acting, or any other fine art, if your basic education is good, it will stand you in good stead,” says Sushant.
The star, as we all know, himself wanted to study abroad but couldn’t due to financial crunch. “I know what it means when you don’t have money to pursue your dreams. So, I have decided to help a few I can,” he adds.
Sushant acted in popular television serial Pavitra Rishta, before stepping into Bollywood with the film Kai Po Che and then assayed the role of cricketer M S Dhoni in the biopic M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. Raabta, his third film is slated to release on June 9.
