Summer diseases that can afflict youngsters

Summer is a time when temperature goes up and humidity increases in atmosphere and there is no surprise that such an atmosphere can make many of us sick. Allergies and fever are common in summers. Here is the list of 12 diseases which are very common in the summer as per noted dietician Sheela Seharawat.

Summer Asthma: There are many people who are allergic to summer and face asthma symptoms that include sneezing, wheezing and coughing. During the attacks patient starts to breathe much faster than normal due to breathlessness which makes sleep at night impossible and life miserable. If it is not treated well it can leads to asthma, heart problem and worst death is also possible.

Cough: Summer is the time of smoothies, ice creams and cold beverages but it causes coughing for some people and they suffer badly. Those who have week immunity must stop eating and drinking items that are kept in freezers.

Flu: It is something that spoils the whole range of fun in the summer as you can’t eat or drink oily foods and cold soft drinks. It generally affects children so you have to keep them away from cold and chilled water in the summer days.

Chicken Pox: It happens due to a special type of virus, Varicella zoster. It gives itchy sensation in your whole body and red blisters on your body. Patient will have fever, cough, loss of appetite and headache. What is worst is that chicken pox is contagious. So you have to be very careful.

Measles: It happens due to Paramyxo virus and it affects children. This virus seriously infects our throat and requires hospitalization.

Back-pain: Excess work can lead to back pain and it can happen to anyone. It is not usually serious but gives a lot of discomfort. This situation can arise due to over-weight or lifting heavy equipment or anything like that.

Skin rash: It gives a lot of irritation, burning sensation in your skin. It can happen during summer due to sweat and in the areas where sweat collects like armpits, back, under the breasts, chest, groin, crooks of elbows and knees, and the waist. Generally it is not contagious but if it is due to fungal or bacterial infection then it can spread. It is important to be careful.

Headache: It can have several reasons but during summer it is very common due to summer heat, dehydration and excessive sweating. It also happens when you work long without rest. So, it is very important to stay protected in summer from headache too.

 Jaundice: It happens due to a virus known as hepatitis A and E. It spreads due to contaminated water. It develops due to the intake of unhygienic water and food items. It is very important to look after hygiene and drink only boiled water.

 Mumps: It happens due a virus and it also happens in summer times. It is easily recognized due to painful swellings of the salivary glands at the side of the face under the ears (parotid glands). This virus can spread from infected to healthy individuals so you need to be careful when meeting an infected person.

Typhoid: Caused due to contaminated food and water. It happens due to the Salmonella bacteria. Its symptoms include pain in abdomen, headache, and weakness in the body. Even after the full treatment when there is no fever in the body but the pain will remain there in the body for some time.

Bad Body Odor: Summer is the time when you have a lot of sweating and it is no surprise that your body may stink and you need to bath twice or thrice a day.
