In keeping with the spirit of the Olympic motto of Citius, Altius, Fortiusc which is Latin for Faster, Higher, Stronger, Delhi Public School RK Puram organised its Sports Day. Encouraging children to play outdoors than doing so in front of screens, principal Vanita Sehgal stressed on taking pleasure in learning as such learning stays forever and what better way to learn than through sports. She conveyed the message of importance of knowing the rules by recounting a personal story. Applauding the enthusiasm of the parents, she recommended them to observe what their children like. The chief guest, VK Shunglu, chairman, DPS Society and DPS RK Puram managing committee, congratulated the winners and observed that DPS RK Puram had won the maximum number of interschool sports competitions among all schools functioning under the DPS Society. He announced that the DPS Society would henceforth fund all sports equipment for all its schools, because he considers a proper kit the most crucial factor in deciding the level of performance in sports.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included Rear Admiral MM Chopra, vice chairman of DPS Society and member of DPS RK Puram managing committee; Pramod Grover, hony treasurer of DPS Society and vice chairman, DPS RK Puram managing committee; Dr DR Saini, director sports, DPS Society and former principal of DPS RK Puram; Dr Zeenat Khader, joint secretary, DPS Society and Prof BP Khandelwal, member, DPS Society and DPS RK Puram managing committee. Also present were vice principals Dr Renu Nayar and Padma Srinivasan along with headmistress Rashmi Malhotra.
The event witnessed a huge turn up of an appreciative audience of parents who were in for a surprise with various sports activities planned for them. In these surprise events, parents and teachers played musical chairs and enjoyed a special three-legged race.
