They may be underprivileged but with sheer hard work and dedication have shown to the world that the word “impossible” does not exist in their dictionary. We introduce you to a few of these underprivileged children who get education under the Satya Bharti School Programme.
Sukhjeet Kaur, Chogawan, Amritsar
Sukhjeet Kaur, 16, belongs to Bhullar, a small village located in the rural belt of Amritsar, Punjab. She has two sisters and one brother, and her father is mentally-challenged. The family has faced several tough knocks but the final blow came when the family was thrown out of the ancestral home due to domestic disputes.
Sukhjeet’s mother is a small-time tailor and her sister often have to stay back at home to help their mother complete her stitching jobs. But she had ample encouragement from her school teachers who kept on goading her to not leave studies. In Class X Boards, she got CGPA 8 and is now pursuing commerce.
