Anand Gopal Mahindra, often known as Anand Mahindra, an Indian billionaire businessman is the Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra Group, a Mumbai-based business industry, which is amongst the top ten industrial houses in India. In 1991, Anand was assigned the duty of Deputy Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Group. He took the responsibility as the Managing Director of the business in 1997 and became the Vice-Chairman in 2003. Besides this, he was also a Co-Promoter of Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd. and transformed it into a bank in 2003. The Mahindra Group operates in the aerospace, agribusiness, aftermarket, automotive, components, construction equipment, defense, energy, farm equipment, finance and insurance, industrial equipment, information technology, leisure and hospitality, logistics, real estate, and retail. Anand is included by Fortune Magazine among the ‘World’s 50 Greatest Leaders’, and was in the magazine’s 2011 listing of Asia’s 25 most powerful business people. He was also noted by Forbes (India) as their ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ for 2013. Anand was awarded the Padma Bhushan Award, the third-highest civilian award in India, in January 2020.
