Ashwini Vaishnaw is an Indian politician who is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. He is best known to serve as the Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics and Information Technology of India, since 8 July 2021.
Currently, he is also serving as a member of the Parliament of India representing Odisha State in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house, since 28 June 2019. As an IAS officer, he served as a collector in Balasore and Cuttack districts.
Ashwini Vaishnaw also served as deputy secretary in the office of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by working in Odisha till 2003, and worked as Vajpayee’s private secretary after the BJP-led NDA lost the election in 2004.[table “” not found /]
