Dr. Roopa Divakar Moudgil, popularly known as D Roopa Moudgil, an Indian Police Officer (IPS), has become the first Indian woman and the first lady police officer in the nation in 2013 to head the Cyber-Crime police division. Recently, she was appointed as Home Secretary to the Government of Karnataka, and she has become the first Indian woman to achieve this position. Currently, she is also holding the position of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Railways, Bengaluru. It is already stated that she will soon replace Umesh Kumar, a 1995-batch IPS officer, as Home Secretary in the state. D. Roopa, was posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Dharwad district, north Karnataka, and also served as SP in Gadag district, Bidar and also in Yadgir district. She was also awarded the President’s Police Medal in 2016 and then again in 2017.
