Manika Batra, a great Indian Table Tennis player is a Commonwealth Games gold medallist, an Olympian, and winner of multiple other honors. She is one of the true stars of Indian table tennis. She rose to fame at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast when she bagged four medals, two of them gold, which was counted as her most successful year to date. Till then, Manika had already caught the eye with three golds at the 2016 South Asian Games, ahead of making her Olympic debut in Rio 2016. All while, table tennis was her first love – she began playing with her siblings from an early age as the Delhi-born young star Manika Batra turned down modeling offers in her teens to concentrate on table tennis. Manika is one of the top-ranked female table tennis players in India and ranked 63rd in the world. She specializes well in playing long pimples on her backhand, a rubber that is not often played by top players. On 25 September 2018, the Government of India conferred Manika Batra with the Arjuna Award. She also received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2020.
