Nihal Sarin Bio

Nihal Sarin an Indian chess player, is best known as the fourth-youngest player in history to cross the Elo rating mark of 2600, accomplishing this feat at age 14. He began learning chess right at the age of six, which was introduced by his father to him.

A Keralite-born chess prodigy he has achieved the title of Grandmaster at the quite early age of 14. He won the Kerala state championship in the Under-07 category(2011), the Under-09 title twice, the Under-11 title twice and Under-15 (Sub-Junior) title once. He became runner-up in State Senior championship (2015), Irinjalakuda at the age of 10 years, and represented Kerala in the National Challengers Championship 2015.

Nihal won the Gold Medal for the Indian team in the 2020 FIDE Chess Olympiad held online, and also won the U-18 World Youth Championship held online in rapid format in 2020.
