Sreedhanya Suresh Bio

Sreedhanya Suresh, an IAS Officer took charge as Kozhikode’s Assistant Collector on 11th June 2020. She is well known as the First Tribal Woman from Kerala to have cleared Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), India, who has secured an all India Rank of 410 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination in the year 2018. Her inspiration for answering UPSC exams came up when she previously served as a Project Assistant in Scheduled Tribes Development Department in Wayanad in 2016, where she received a warm welcome from the present Kozhikode Collector Seeram Sambasiva Rao, a Wayanad Sub-Collector, which gave wings to her dreams. Soon, after the training, the IAS trainee started working under the district collector S Sambasiva Rao, one of her role model and her inspiration to enter the civil service. Her aim is to improve the education of the tribal children, which is her priority.

Parents: Father- Suresh; Mother- Kamala (Both of them Daily wage labourers who trade in bows and arrows- enlisted under the MNREGA scheme)
Siblings: Elder sister- Government servant; Younger brother- Polytechnic student
Education: St. Josephs College, Devagiri (Autonomous), University of Calicut; Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussorie
Educational Qualification: M.Sc in Zoology
