CISF chief Subodh Kumar Jaiswal is the new CBI director. Jaiswal is a 1985-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Maharashtra cadre. He has also served as Maharashtra’s director general of police in the past.
In past, the Subodh Kumar Jaiswal had served Mumbai Police as well as the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad. He was also the chief of the Special Investigation Team that probed into Rs 20,000 crore fake stamp paper scam, towards the beginning of the last decade, and also unearthed connections between some top police officials and the scam accused. Jaiswal probed the September 2006 Malegaon blast case while serving as a deputy inspector general (DIG) of the Anti-Terrorism Squad.
