Sushila Devi, an Indian Ace Judoka player is best known to qualify for Tokyo Olympics via continental quota confirmed by the International Judo Federation (IJF). She will be competing in the 48kg category, as she has 989 points which makes her stand at the seventh spot in the Asian list. The continental quotas are allotted based on a judoka’s ranking in the region and Asia has 10 quota slots.
Under her uncle, Likmabam Dinit’s guidance (an international Judo player) Sushila took up training at an early age of 8 in the Khuman Lampak right from December 2002. She was trained under Sabitri Chanu of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Special Area Games (SAG) Khuman Lampak.
For Tokyo Olympics, this will be Sushila’s first participation at Olympics, and only one athlete per NOC (National Olympic Committee) per division can qualify. Each NOC is entitled to only one spot through the continental quota.[table “” not found /]
